Long-term archive observations show that backflow is one of the recurring material behaviors documented during volatile ink formation.

As liquid continues to develop under the influence of gravity, some previously expanded regions gradually return toward earlier areas, allowing the recorded formation to continue evolving.

Backflow During Formation

Archive records show liquid returning toward earlier areas after expansion, directional shifts, or continued movement:

  • Returning liquid moving across and covering earlier structures
  • Liquid taking a new path to create multiple movement stages within one event
  • Repeated appearances of return movement across archived observations

Liquid Thickness and Backflow

Archive observations document relationship patterns between liquid thickness and backflow activity:

  • Thicker liquid regions developing more noticeable backflow that remains active in later stages
  • Thinner liquid regions showing less visible return movement across surface areas
