As liquid expands across a non-absorbent surface, established flow paths do not always remain stable. Archive records repeatedly document cases where an existing path shifts, diverges, or reorganizes into a new direction.
Rather than representing an isolated event, directional shifts appear across numerous archived recordings under various material conditions.

When Do Directional Changes Occur?
Current archive records indicate that directional changes are not limited to a single formation stage:
- Early stages while the initial flow pattern is still forming
- Middle stages after a visible path has already established
- Late stages where localized adjustments continue to alter the structure
Observations show that directional changes can occur throughout multiple phases of volatile ink formation.
